Remove Pages

Runs in your browser

Delete pages from a PDF in your browser. Nothing is uploaded and there is no limit. Click the thumbnails of the pages you want gone, check what is left, and download the shorter document.

or drop them here, or paste

One file. It stays on your device.

Removing pages writes a new PDF containing everything except the pages you marked. The pages that stay are copied without being re-encoded, so quality is unchanged and the file gets smaller roughly in proportion to what you took out.

Everything happens inside this page. Your file is read by JavaScript running on your own machine, and no part of it is sent anywhere.

Removing is not redacting

This tool takes out whole pages. If your aim is to hide a name or a figure that appears in the middle of a page you want the redact tool instead, and a black rectangle drawn on top is not enough there either.

If the sensitive content happens to occupy a whole page, removing that page does genuinely destroy it. The page and everything on it are gone from the output file, not hidden.

Check before you commit

The grid shows every page, and marked pages stay visible with a strike through rather than disappearing, so you can see what you are about to lose and change your mind. The page count updates as you go.

Nothing is written until you press the button, and your original file on disk is never modified. If you get it wrong, start over and add the file again.

What shifts when pages go

Page numbers printed on the pages themselves do not renumber, because they are part of the page content. A document that loses page 4 will still show 1, 2, 3, 5 in its printed footer. Use the page numbers tool afterwards if the sequence needs to be right.

Internal links and any table of contents will point at the wrong places, for the same reason. Bookmarks that pointed at a removed page are dropped.

Questions about Remove Pages

How do I delete a page from a PDF?

Add the file, click the thumbnail of every page you want gone so it is marked, then press Remove Pages. You get back a new PDF with those pages missing and everything else untouched.

Does removing a page delete its content for good?

In the file you download, yes. The page and everything on it are not written into the output at all, so there is nothing hidden underneath. Your original file on disk is not changed.

Will the page numbers renumber themselves?

No. Numbers printed on the page are part of the page. If you remove page 4 the footer will read 1, 2, 3, 5. Add fresh numbers with the page numbers tool if that matters.
